Dominic Tilden is a health economist with over a decade of practical experience in the design, development and implementation of health economic evaluations that involve cost-minimisation, cost-effectiveness, cost-utility and cost-benefit analyses. Dominic has worked in a broad range of therapeutic areas, including: oncology, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, schizophrenia, ADHD, infectious diseases, osteoarthritis, thrombosis, transplantation, diagnostics, and screening.
Dominic has been an integral member of teams developing reimbursement applications globally. He has developed and implemented creative and analytical strategies, managed multidisciplinary teams and prepared submission dossiers that communicate sound health technology assessment and health economic arguments to reimbursement authorities in Australia, England, Wales, Scotland and several European countries. Since 1999, Dominic has been involved in and responsible for more than 30 reimbursement submissions to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (Australia); the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (England and Wales); and the Scottish Medicines Consortium. Dominic’s health economic evaluations have also been used in reimbursement applications in Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Holland, Norway, Portugal, Sweden and more.
Dominic develops models using first and second order Monte Carlo simulation; discrete event simulation; decision-analytic, Markov and semi-Markov architecture; and probabilistic sensitivity analyses. Models are developed in DATA software (TreeAge) or by applying advanced Excel techniques, including Visual Basic, where necessary. Dominic is contracted by TreeAge as an instructor for their DATA software training courses.
Participation in multidisciplinary research teams, and formal qualifications in public health, has equipped Dominic with expertise in health technology assessment techniques, including critical appraisal of clinical trial and epidemiological research data, meta-analysis and clinical trial data extraction.
Dominic has contributed to a substantial body of literature published in peer reviewed journals and government reports as a lead and contributing author in the domains of health economic evaluation and health technologies assessments. Dominic has also developed many highly successful and awarded poster presentations for conferences in Australia, Europe and the USA.
